A mindful productivity app for creative professionals.

How can digital interfaces reduce anxiety and promote a state of flow for users in creative fields?
FlowState is a mobile application concept that explores the intersection of digital productivity tools and mindfulness practices. In a world saturated with distracting notifications and overly complex software, this project investigates how minimalist design and calming interactions can help creative professionals find focus and enter a state of deep work, or “flow.”
Process
The project began with in-depth interviews with designers, writers, and artists to understand their workflows and digital frustrations. Key insights from this research were used to create user personas and journey maps, which informed the initial design direction. The process moved from low-fidelity paper sketches to interactive wireframes in Figma. Several rounds of user testing were conducted with a high-fidelity prototype, and the feedback was used to iteratively refine the user interface and core features.
Artefact
The final artefact is a high-fidelity, clickable prototype of the “FlowState” mobile application. The prototype, built in ProtoPie, demonstrates the app’s core features, including customizable focus timers that use the Pomodoro Technique, a library of ambient soundscapes, and a minimalist, gesture-based task management system designed to minimize cognitive load and encourage single-tasking.
